Parlez Vous Francais The whimsical French title, la folie... pas du tout, is slightly more fitting than the English one. It translates: madly (in love) ... not really. See the movie and then discuss the title amongst yourselves. Thursday, August 29, 2002
Bragging Rights I DID read the German subtitles to this French film. For the first time I was totally comfortable with them and I only missed three of them: ("She can't come between us" scrawled on the car, the blackmail dialogue, and the nice quote at the end). Congratulate me at zurcherart@hotmail.com (but if you're reading from EDS remember that old Mississippi adage - you don't have to tell everything you know).
Next Time Less in-joky references that only I understand. And coming soon... How those Germans ruined the Street Parade!
And Speaking Of... That other small TV town. The buildings have outside facades now! Maggie and Julie saw the alien teens-in-tin-foil. All I can say is: Satan in Salem Sucked, Virtual Reality was Virtually Lame, but luv me some E.T. Phone the Brady's!
Yep, He Knows I like Dave's entry from yesterday. 'Course I sorta like some small towns. And I don't know about the "Gilmore Girls", but you know the TV town that is real in my heart. Oh, and the other one too.
Speaking of ... 'ye olde English conjugation ... "Thou hast" sure has a funny and familiar ring to it ... um, now where could that have come from?
But, shouldn't it maybe be "you hast" and something along the lines "Sae haben"? Just wondering.
The River's Gonna Keep On Rollin On When peace like a river attendeth my way - when sorrows like sea billows roll - whatever my lot Thou hast taught me to say, "It is well. It is well with my soul." Tuesday, August 27, 2002
Today, I Saw Someone's Underpants! ... Okay, I didn't really. But I did see France!
I left Zrich at about 8:00 AM this morning and drove about an hour with a colleague from work to Basel to visit a team of Swiss (the airline not the nationality) to work out some difficult website concepts. I was back from Basel by 3:00 in the afternoon. The interesting part is the headquarters of the Swiss National Airline is at the airport of Basel, Switzerland which actually lies just over the physical border into France (thought the entry and exit of the airport is controlled so you don't actually do a border crossing). Confidential to B. in Dallas Now that I've just reminded M.-Have-you-watched-it-yet---cause-you're-going-to-LOVE-it in Slidell ... you have 8 hours of Pride and Prejudice to watch on DVD. My advice - get to it!
Correction: M in Slidell says it's only 5 hours, so ...
Yep, I'm Still Around
I promise to fill you in on where I've been soon. But, for now check out the latest news from Bern - the Swiss capitol.
Note two important themes emerge (imediately obvious to my Menno friends): Pride and Shame. (The Predjudice is more subtle, but Mom assures me it's a good movie.)

I've attempted to leave this blog in the state it was in early 2006 as a historical artifact, but Google broke my original Archive page. What you see above is a quick reconstruction to rebuild some archive functionality
without altering the original blog layout (or researching too deeply into Blogspot).
